As part of the training there was a practical component and at the end of the course participants were asked to give a presentation on projects they had worked on. Topics included tractor safety, transport initiatives, accountability, team work, and recognition. These presentations have been integrated into our Continuous Improvement processes and over time we will adopt these staff lead initiatives.
This type of training, along with the Proactivate Programme we ran last year, ensures that our people are better equipped to resolve disputes, prioritise their work and negotiate with other staff, growers and suppliers.
It’s a big commitment in time and cost but we think it’s important to provide opportunities to learn and to always be challenging ourselves to do better.
